Today is my official 4 year anniversary of living in Haiti!! I can hardly believe it's been 4 years, but at the same time it seems like longer than that since I was in the states full time. It's been awhile since I posted so I thought I would do a really quick recap of January to now. If you are my friend on facebook or follow me on instagram you have probably seen a lot of these things already, however I thought it would still be good to do an update :)
Jorgi & I got married on January 28th! Heres a link to the photos from our wedding if you would like to see more:

All of my immediate family (dad, mom, sister, & brother) were all able to make it which was an AMAZING blessing! I still can't believe that they were all here along with some wonderful friends and cousins. The day was PERFECT.
Jorgi worked incredibly hard at making our little house a home during January....tile, paint, sinks, etc. He did an amazing job and we're close to finished with all of our improvement projects! We have running water in the bathroom, but no running water in the kitchen yet (hopefully soon!) And we have most of the components to have a solar powered electric system, we just have to re-wire our house first and then we can connect it all. Living a little further from Respire has been good and bad. It's great because I truly feel like I go home at the end of the day which has been really nice. But being further away presents it's own set of challenges! We are super blessed to have a motorcycle which has allowed us to be able to go back and forth to Respire, church, etc....however, when it rains....eeeeekkkkkkkk.
Parenting two teenagers has of course had it's challenges, but boy do we love these two! They add so much joy and fun to our lives and I can't imagine life without them.

I got to go on a field trip with our 7th & 8th grade students to Baptist Haiti Mission in Fermathe which is up in the mountains above Port Au Prince. We spent more time on the bus than we did exploring the area, but the kids had a blast and so did I! They have a very small zoo there and the kids LOVED it. There was a baby alligator that they were amazed by and they loved seeing all of the animals. Most are really fairly common, but most of these kids have never seen anything besides farm animals so it was a fun learning experience!

I also made homemade coconut oil for the first time! It was an interesting process and I learned a lot! Jorgi & I have grand ideas about starting a business here one day as we both believe that what Haiti needs most is more jobs so we are constantly talking about ideas! This is an idea I've had for a long time and I wanted to try it out for myself.....I mean, after all, we do live on an island where they grow coconuts! It wasn't as cost effective as I had hoped but I learned a lot and it was my first time so maybe there are some improvements in the process or buying in bulk that could make it successful. Anyway, I wanted to share the process with you all :)
First grating all the coconut by hand (we did 6). Thankfully Anchelot helped me a lot with this...it's hard work!
Next, make coconut milk (by adding drinking water) and straining out all of the shredded coconut. Then let it sit overnight.
Then boil it (for an hour or so) to separate the oil
Finished product!
Other Respire fun and updates!
Daniel Jean Louis (author of From Aid to Trade) came to speak to our secondary students!

We broke ground on additional classrooms so that we can have a computer lab and library next year!
Lala is doing well and even has some teeth!
Sorry for this being such a long update!! I guess long updates happen when you procrastinate forever :) We are so blessed to be serving the Lord here in Haiti and there are couple of specific ways that you can help us!
1. Prayer! We need to be covered in so much prayer...especially because we are on a motorcycle every day on the crazy Haitian highway...but we also have a specific thing you can be praying with us for........Jorgi's visa. He doesn't have a visa yet, which makes my trips to the states INCREDIBLY difficult. I will be leaving for a little over a month to do some contract work in the states and it will be very hard to be apart for that long. If he is able to get a visitor's visa he would be able to visit my family with me which would be a huge blessing!
2. Financially. My least favorite of all the topics because I do not like to ask for help. As I said I will be doing contract work which does help us to be able to stay in Haiti and continue our ministry here....however, we could still use your help! If you feel called to give please click the link and find my name in the list of missionaries.
